Using a psychrometer or hygrometer:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:47\">These instruments directly measure humidity and some models can also provide dew point readings.<\/p>\n<h3 data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:35\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>2. Using mathematical formulas:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:69\">There are a couple of formulas you can use to calculate dew point and relative humidity if you know the air temperature and either the relative humidity or the dew point.<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"11:1-12:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"11:1-12:0\"><strong>Calculating dew point from temperature and relative humidity:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:1\">A relatively simple and accurate formula for dew point (Td) in degrees Celsius is:<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:23\">Td = T &#8211; ((100 &#8211; RH)\/5)<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"17:1-17:6\">where:<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"19:1-21:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"19:1-19:45\">T is the air temperature in degrees Celsius<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"20:1-21:0\">RH is the relative humidity in percent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"22:1-22:78\">This formula is most accurate for higher relative humidity values (above 50%).<\/p>\n<ul data-sourcepos=\"24:1-25:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"24:1-25:0\"><strong>Calculating relative humidity from temperature and dew point:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"26:1-26:116\">The equations to calculate relative humidity (RH) are more complex and involve exponential terms.
